Before Air Canada swallowed it several years ago, Canadian Airlines had one of the most beautiful logos in the skies. The company's goose was an absolutely elegant logo that looked striking at its tickting booths, on its print materials, and most especially on its planes. Kudos to its designer and may we lament a beautiful logo mergered out of existence.

Beautiful indeed. I also liked how they applied to logo - particularly in the planes themselves (photo).

I remember they used to have massive silver copies of the logo behind the ticket counters. What I'd give to have one of those mounted on the wall of my office.

Canadian was always the better of the two big airlines in Canada (in my opinion). Air Canada has never gotten things right...becoming a monopoly has only made them worse.

Here's a really nice photo of a model Canadi>n Airlines Boeing 747 on areosite.net. Really shows how well the logo worked on the tail of such a huge aircraft.

It looks like the designer of the logo was probably Ben Hermel who was the Creative Director of Canadian Airlines and more recently designed the logo for the Salt Lake city olympics.

Perhaps the goose should be enshrined in the Logo Graveyard? (link via Coudal Partners)
