I visited the Power Plant Art Gallery for the first time last week with my lovely girlfriend while she was in Toronto visiting. It's a fun light-hearted contemporary gallery on Lake Ontario in (who would have guessed) an old power station. If you're in the city the current exhibits are well worth a look and at four bucks admission it's certainly affordable.
Laura Kikauka's exhibit "Exactly the Same, but Completely Different" is especially fun. She's collected a ridiculous amount of kitsch and it's displayed in all of its weird and wonderful glory in the hallway immediately inside the gallery. Don't miss the chance to climb the ladders (yup, you're allowed to go up even if it doesn't look like it at first glance) into the small upper rooms where there's yet more campy knicknacks all over the place.

My lovely girlfriend Emily's best friend works at Power Plant! I'm glad to hear that it's a good spot, we have yet to have a chance to go and examine it for ourselves.
