Jim McInnis -

Perhaps they were left there by a disciple of The Day After Tomorrow who believes that Toronto is under impending threat of a snowstorm of vast proportions (despite the humid weather) and wants to be prepared. Maybe they know something we don't and the rast of us should wax our skis, lock them near our houses, lay out our snow gear, and be prepared for the moment of doom. I see some cloudes on the horizon! Head south, HEAD SOUTH!!!

Perhaps there are spelling lessons to be had in Mexico too. Sorry for all the typing errors. The thought of impending doom rattled my ability to type.

Perhaps an Inuit art-student is making an ironic statement about global warming in the context of a meta-critique of cultural narratives on permanence and reliability.

A new form of art? maybe... strete ski relics. Probably it signifies something.

Daniel Burka -

UPDATE: As of earlier this week, the skis are suddenly gone but the padlock and chain remain... stolen? We may never know.

Daniel Burka

My name is Daniel Burka. I'm a web designer living in San Francisco. Currently, I'm the director of design with a startup called Tiny Speck and for several years I was the creative director at Digg. I grew up in PEI, Canada, where I was one of the founders of silverorange. Aside from obsessing about interface design and css selectors, I'm a frequently-falling rock climber, a lazy cyclist, and an often out-of-bounds disc golfer.
