I came into the office this morning and was told that Great Hobbies, a local company, had a Segway and had, in fact, become a local reseller. "Oh, sure, whatever", I ignorantly stated. Then, slowly realization of the truth came to me and we hopped in a vehicle and headed on over...
To summarize: holy crap, those things are amazing. Very natural to drive and surprisingly fast. I drove it around the parking lot in slow mode, then stepped it up on the faster settings and was soon racing down the street, under the overpass in Stratford, around Glen Stewart school... seriously fun. I've literally been off of it for about five minutes and I'm, as you can likely tell, still totally stoked. Wow.
At six thousand each, they're still mighty expensive, but they're awfully cool. Jim at Great Hobbies said they'd love to have people come out and give it a go, so give them a shout beforehand and then go for a test drive. Happy Segway-ing...
