Over the past few months, the news site Salon.com has felt like it was slowly falling apart around the edges. There was the same great content, but the website itself was becoming a mishmash of not-quite-working parts. There are simultaneously two main page layouts that change per section, header graphics were ostentatiously missing like plucked teeth on many occasions, and generally the site was building up a lot of cruft.
While reading King Kaufman's sports daily today, this little gem was tucked into a predictions for this week's baseball games: "In honor of the sleek redesign Salon is rolling out this week...". Ah! Can't wait to see what they've come up with.

I believe it'll look something like the war room. I seem to remember them mentioning "the upcoming redesign" when it launched. Looking forward to it as well.

I hope so, those are nice designs that harken back to its early days in the late nineties -- from, the style of the current links on the right and the open, serif-faced article; one notable difference is that it's liquid:

I likee... but will it make Salon's content interesting? Doubt it.

It looks like they've switched the front page over now - some sub-pages are still the old layout.
